Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to some questions we get a lot of!

Can I start before I join?

Absolutely not!

While you can explore ideas, you cannot start implementing your project before the specified time.

Do I need to come with a team?

If you don't have a team in mind before you come, you can make a team with anyone after the opening ceremonies, so no pressure!

Just note that team sizes are limited to a maximum of five hackers per team.

How much does it cost?

£0 and your time. Fresher's Hack 2021 is free to attend with everything provided by our wonderful sponsors!

Who can attend?

Any student (Computer Science or not!) of Royal Holloway, University of London.

How do I opt-out of being photographed?

We respect your privacy - You can opt out of being photographed by asking one of our committee members for an "opt-out" lanyard, to let us know that you do not wish to be photographed.

We'll try to do the following:

  1. Avoid taking photographs of people who have opted-out
  2. Delete photographs of those who have opted-out
  3. Triple check for people who have opted-out before publishing photographs

If you are from the future 👋👋 and have still found yourself in a photograph, let us know at [email protected]

Do I have to study Computer Science?

Nope!

If this is your first time programming, you may be interested in tuning into our talks, or ask one of our mentors for help getting started!

Is there a Code of Conduct?

All our events follow both our Code of Conduct and MLH Code of Conduct
